Everest Gokyo Lake Trekking is one of the most sought after adventure trekking trips in the Everest region. On the trip, you can enjoy the incredible charm of the Gokyo valley that lies to the west of Everest base camp amidst the beautiful mountains. This trip will allow you to enjoy the beauty of Himalayan lakes and also you can experience the spectacular views from Gokyo Ri and Cho La pass.
 
After immersing into the charming beauty of Gokyo valley, you will trek towards the Everest base camp crossing Cho La pass at the elevation of 5,420 meters above sea level. The joy of Gokyo valley exploration gets even more enriched when you step at the base camp of the highest mountain in the world and also with a breathtaking view of Everest and other mountains from Kalapatthar standing at the elevation of 5,545 meters above sea level.

Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,350 m)

    It is the first day of trip and your arrival day in Kathmandu Nepal. When you land at the airport in Kathmandu and come out at the arrival lounge, our company representative will welcome you with a warm smile. Then, we will drive you to the trip hotel where you can spend relaxing time. We will have a meeting in the evening to talk about the trip in details.

  • Day 2
    Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
    After you take your breakfast, a beautiful day sightseeing tour of heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley is due today. Visit Swoyambhunath – the monkey temple; Patan Durbar Square – the medieval palace square; Pashupatinath – the open cremation ground for Hindus; and Boudhanath – the biggest Buddhist stupa. 
     
  • Day 3
    Kathmandu – Lukla 2,860m – Phakding 2640m
    Grab your early morning breakfast and drive to airport to board the flight to Lukla to enter Everest region. After a half hour of incredible flight, you will land at Lukla. It’s also the first day of trekking in the Everest region. Start trekking towards Phakding along the Dudh Koshi River. Walk past Buddhist prayer walls called mani walls, prayer flags, prayer wheels and beautiful nature. 
    Overnight stay at Phakding.
     
  • Day 4
    Phakding – Namche 3,440m
    Enjoy your breakfast and start the trek to Namche bazar. Trek up towards Monjo along the Dudh Koshi river valley where you need to check into the Sagarmatha National Park counter to be able to walk further higher. Cross several suspension bridges and traverse the winding uphill trail to Namche bazar, the bustling Sherpa village in the region. Namche is also the most happening village in the Everest trail. 
    Stay overnight at Namche.
     
  • Day 5
    Acclimatization Hike
    Once you take your breakfast and it’s time to get ready for an acclimatization hike that is necessary at this elevation to go even further higher towards the base camp. Hike up to the Everest view point to have the first ever glimpse of the highest mountain in the world. (You will have an option to hike to Thame, a beautiful Sherpa village, as well). Later return back to Namche to spend overnight.
     
  • Day 6
    Namche – Dole 3534m
    We trek to Dole today after breakfast at our lodge at Namche. About six hours of walk through pine and rhododendron forested area via Tengboche takes us to Dole. On the way, when you reach Tengboche, stop for some exploration of a monastery there and surrounding. Enjoy the mountain views from along the trail to Dole where you stay overnight.
     
  • Day 7
    Machhermo – Gokyo 4,750m
    The trek for today takes us to a wonderful place called Gokyo. The very first section of the trek takes you on an uphill walk through a ridge enjoying the Himalayan view. The walk today passes through a glacial moraine, first lake before reaching the beautiful Gokyo village on the bank of a serene lake. You will have some time in the afternoon to explore around. 
    Stay overnight at Gokyo.
     

     

  • Day 8
    Gokyo Exploration Day
    You have a full day to explore the majestic beauty of Gokyo and surrounding wonders. Take an early morning hike up to Gokyo Ri at the elevation of 5483 meters above sea level to enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu. Walk back down to Gokyo and make an afternoon walk to the Fifth Lake and later explore Ngajumpa Glacier. 
    Stay overnight at Gokyo.
     
  • Day 9
    Gokyo – Thagnag 4700m
    Comparatively a short walk today, you trek towards Thagnag today. The walk takes you past glacial moraine filled trail and shortly to Thagnag thereafter. After the beautiful short walk of the day, you reach Thagnag and explore the place for the rest of the day or simply take a leisurely time to rest. 
    Stay overnight at Thagnag.
     
  • Day 10
    Thagnag – Cho La 5420m – Dzonghla 4830m
    It’s a long day today which takes you to Dzonghla for overnight stay. The walk goes past a high Himalayan pass called Cho La at the elevation of 5420 meters above sea level. Today is not only a long day of trek but also a difficult walking day. The day starts early to trek up towards Cho La pass passing through huge boulders. Walk on narrow and icy path through the pass thus have to be extra careful not to slip. After crossing the pass, descend down towards Dzonghla where you spend overnight today. 
     
  • Day 11
    Dzonghla – Lobuche 4910m
    Today you are going to meet the regular Everest base camp trekking trail when you reach Lobuche for our overnight stay. You are heading closer to the base camp of Everest as you walk further ahead towards Lobuche along the Khumbu valley. Once you reach Lobuche, you will meet trekkers making their way to the Everest base camp along the regular trekking trail to the base of the world’s highest mountain. 
     
  • Day 12
    Lobuche – Gorakshep 5,164m – Everest Base Camp 5,364m
    Get ready for the excitement of reaching the base of the highest mountain in the world. Trek to Gorakshep, where you will be spending overnight today and will be the highest overnight stop for the trip, and settle into a guest house. Enjoy your lunch and get ready to trek to Everest base camp. The trail passes through moraine and boulders on a gradual ascent. You finally reach the base camp where you will enjoy some precious moments of your life; take pictures and set an everlasting memory. Later, return back to Gorakshep to stay overnight.
     
  • Day 13
    Gorakshep – Kalapatthar 5,545m – Pheriche 4,371m
    You still have a wonder point to enjoy before starting on the journey back. Early morning hike to Kalapatthar, the highest point of this trek, is worth taking to enjoy the close up and panoramic view of Mt. Everest and other mountains in the range. You can also enjoy a beautiful Himalayan sunrise. Later, hike back to Gorakshep; enjoy your breakfast and get ready to trek back to Pheriche. Stay overnight at Pheriche. 
     
  • Day 14
    Pheriche – Khumjung 3,790m
    Descend the trail in elevation towards Khumjung today. As you trek lower, you feel relieved but the trek up to the base camp was definitely worth taking. You will still have beautiful views of the mountain peaks along the trail today. Once you reach Khumjung village, you can explore the surroundings.
     
  • Day 15
    Khumjung – Monjo 2,835m
    Today, you trek all the way back down to Monjo, the point where you exit the Sagarmatha National Park. The trail passes through Namche Bazar. You can take a leisurely walk around once you reach Monjo.
     
  • Day 16
    Monjo – Lukla 2,860m
    Enjoy the last day of trek today while trekking to Lukla. Exit the national park check point and start trekking down towards Phakding village on the bank of Dudh Koshi River and walk further ahead to Lukla. Celebrate the joy of the end of this trekking adventure. Stay overnight at Lukla.
     
  • Day 17
    Lukla – Kathmandu
    It’s time to say goodbye to the Everest region now. Take a flight back to Kathmandu after several days of peaceful and adventurous moments in the Everest region. Once in Kathmandu, you can spend leisurely time walking around the streets or engaging yourself in the activities of your choice available Kathmandu. 
     
  • Day 18
    Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

    We will board a scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, which lasts for about 40 minutes. This flight will call in for the celebration of the trip we have successfully completed and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu by private van.

  • Day 19
    Departure Day
    Today is the final day of this trip and we will drive you to airport for the departure flight.
