Shivapuri Day Hiking is a beautiful day hiking adventure inside Shivapuri National Park in the northern part of Kathmandu valley. It is also one of the most sought after day hiking trips in and around Kathmandu valley.
To start the hike, you drive to beautiful Budhanilakantha that lies on the lap of Shivapuri hill in the northern part of Kathmandu. You need to check into the national park check post guarded by Nepalese army and the adventure begins. As the hiking goes through national park, it is all about nature walk for the day. Your exploration of nature brings you to Nangi Gumba, a beautiful monastery situated in the middle of the park. Exploring this beautiful spiritual place adds to the beauty of the hiking. You can spend some quality time at the monastery. The view of Kathmandu valley in the south looks fabulous.
After exploring the nature and Nangi Gumba area, you will start the journey back down. Again, you will be in the forest to explore more of nature. You can look for different species of birds that make the forest sound melodious. You also have chances to encounter some wildlife so watch out for wild animals along the trail.
