One of the most famous trekking peaks in the Himalayas, Mera Peak Climbing trip goes in the Khumbu region. This trip takes you on an attempt to summit an incredibly beautiful 6,461 meters high Mera Peak. This peak stands tall and beautiful near Hinku valley in the Khumbu region.

Many adventurers trek to the Mera peak to climb to the top of it to have an unbelievably stunning view of the mountains in the Himalayas. Multiple days of high altitude trekking through high passes, pastures and river valley takes you to the base camp of the peak. Once your flight lands at Lukla airport, your trip heads towards Chutanga while other trekkers to the Everest and Gokyo head towards Phakding.

The trekking goes through remote mountainous region. You will be into the wilderness of the mountains with alluring charm to keep you holding there. Nature all the way through the trekking trail does magic to keep you moving forward and, of course, excitement of Mera Peak Climbing pushes you towards the peak. The cultural wonder of the Hinku valley is also one major attraction of the trekking. The places you trek through are also incredibly beautiful. When you climb to the top of the peak, you can have breathtaking views of 8,000 meters peaks with several other mountain peaks.

Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Kathmandu Arrival (1350m)

    It is the first day of trip and your arrival day in Kathmandu Nepal. When you land at the airport in Kathmandu and come out at the arrival lounge, our company representative will welcome you with a warm smile. Then, we will drive you to the trip hotel where you can spend relaxing time. We will have a meeting in the evening to talk about the trip in details.

  • Day 2
    Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour – B

    After you take your breakfast, a beautiful day sightseeing tour of heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley is due today. Visit Swoyambhunath – the monkey temple; Patan Durbar Square – the medieval palace square; Pashupatinath – the open cremation ground for Hindus; and Boudhanath – the biggest Buddhist stupa.

  • Day 3
    Kathmandu – Lukla 2,860m – Chutanga 3,020m – B.L.D

    Grab your early morning breakfast and drive to airport to board the flight to Lukla to enter Everest region. After a half hour of incredible flight, you will land at Lukla. It’s also the first day of trekking in the Khumbu region. Start trekking towards Chutanga for the overnight stay. The trek goes higher into elevation from Lukla thus expect uphill trail on the very first day of the trek.

  • Day 4
    Acclimatization Day – B.L.D

    You have an extra day here at Chutanga to acclimatize. Go for a day hiking trip to a higher elevation and return back to Chutanga to stay overnight. Spending extra day and hiking around will prepare you to go further higher on our high altitude adventure journey.

  • Day 5
    Chutanga – Zwatra La 4,600m – Thuli Kharka 4,300m – B.L.D

    You will set off on the walk of the day early in the morning. The trek today takes you to Thuli Kharka via Zwatra La pass standing at the elevation of 4,600 meters above sea level. The first part of the walk goes uphill towards Zwatra La to have spectacular view of the Dudh Koshi river valley and snow-capped mountains around. You can enjoy a spectacular view of mountain peaks and river valley from the pass before heading down towards Thulikharka for overnight stay.

  • Day 6
    Thuli Kharka – Kothe 4,182m – B.L.D

    The walk to Kothe today is going to take you through beautiful trail that goes through rhododendron forest. You will walk down to the Hinku khola on the first part of the walk then enter Hinku valley following the trail towards Kothe. You are going to be at slightly lower altitude than yesterday.

  • Day 7
    Kothe – Thaknak 4,360m – B.L.D

    The walk along the ridge of Hinku Khola today takes you to Thaknak. The walk for about 5 hours will take you past Lungsumba monastery before reaching the destination. You will also pass through a place where temporary summer camps for herders are established. You walk further ahead towards Thaknak to overnight stay.

  • Day 8
    Acclimatization Day – B.L.D

    You spend an extra day here to adjust with the high altitude climate. You can go around for some hiking exploration as part of the acclimatization process.

  • Day 9
    Thaknak – Khare 4,945m – B.L.D

    You will walk to Khare via Dig Kharka today. The walk today brings some incredible views of snow-capped mountain peaks. Take a slow paced walk towards Dig Kharka and then further towards Khare. Once you reach Khare, you can see an overwhelming view of Mera Peak which is the destination peak of the trip.

  • Day 10
    Khare – Mera Base Camp 5,300m – B.L.D

    About 4 hours of walk today takes you to Mera Base Camp. Walking up on a steep trail, you reach Mera Base Camp to have your lunch there. The base camp lies at the elevation of 5,300 meters above sea level. You can go for some walking exploration around after lunch so that you can adjust to the thinning oxygen level in the air.

  • Day 11
    Mera Base Camp – High Camp 5,780m – B.L.D

    It is the day to climb to high camp today after breakfast. A challenging climb through snow and several crevasses make your day a little tough. But that is the nature of climbing expedition. The day has spectacular charm despite the thrilling challenge. Once you reach the high camp settle yourself comfortably to take enough rest and acclimatize.

  • Day 12
    High Camp – Summit 6,461m – Khare 4,945m – B.L.D

    Today is the day to summit Mera Peak. Start the climb very early morning and walk through the snow towards the summit. Mera peak is a less technical mountain to climb and once you reach the summit, you can see a spectacular view of the highest mountain in the world, Everest and 8000 meters mountains of Lhotse (8516m) and Cho Oyu (8210m) and several other beautiful mountains like Ama Dablam, Kangtega, Chamlang etc. After enjoying the incredible view from the summit of Mera Peak, descend down to the base camp and trek all the way back to Khare to stay overnight.

  • Day 13
    Contingency Day – B.L.D

    This is the day to make up any possible delay in the climb due to various possible yet uncertain reasons.

  • Day 14
    Khare – Kothe 3,600m – B.L.D

    After the adventure climb on the Mera peak, it is now time to head back towards Lukla. You will trek all the way back to Kothe for overnight stay today.

  • Day 15
    Kothe – Thuli Kharka 4,300m – B.L.D

    Trace the route back to Thuli Kharka today. The joy that the surrounding mountains bring to you is indescribable even on the way back. Once you reach Thulikharka, you can spend relaxing time around.

  • Day 16
    Thuli Kharka - Lukla 2,840m – B.L.D

    The trek today takes you all the way back to Lukla today via Zwatra La pass and Chutanga. It is the final day of trekking adventure. Once you reach Lukla, thank the supporting team members for making the adventure memorable. If it were not for their amazing effort, the journey would be very difficult. Celebrate the joy of making it to the base of the highest peak in the world.

  • Day 17
    Lukla – Kathmandu – B

    It’s time to say goodbye to the Khumbu region now. Take a flight back to Kathmandu after several days of peaceful and adventurous moments in the Khumbu region. Once in Kathmandu, you can spend leisurely time walking around the streets or engaging yourself in the activities of your choice available Kathmandu.

  • Day 18
    Departure Day – B

    Today is the final day of this trip and we will drive you to airport for the departure flight.
