Jomsom Muktinath Trekking Trip is an exploration of incredible landscapes and villages from lower Annapurna region high up to Muktinath. This trip explores natural and cultural wonders of Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, Poon Hill and then goes towards Tatopani. It goes to Ghasa, Marpha, Jomsom and Kagbeni before reaching Muktinath to immerse into the spirituality there.

The trail goes through narrow and abrupt gorges including the deepest gorge in the world. The destination of the trip, Muktinath, is the place which has sacred values of Hindu and Buddhist people and also meets trail from Annapurna Circuit joining there. Walking through the rhododendron forest and beautiful waterfalls; enjoying the panoramic Himalayan view with sunrise; getting to know a little of local culture and ethnicity; and be filled with abundance of spiritual vibrations make this trip a wonderful adventure.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 1Kathmandu Arrival (1350m).It is the first day of trip and your arrival day in Kathmandu Nepal. When you land at the airport in Kathmandu and come out at the arrival lounge, our company representative will welcome you with a warm smile. Then, we will drive you to the trip hotel where you can spend relaxing time. We will have a meeting in the evening to talk about the trip in details.
  • Day 2Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour – BAfter you take your breakfast, a beautiful day sightseeing tour of heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley is due today. Visit Swoyambhunath – the monkey temple; Patan Durbar Square – the medieval palace square; Pashupatinath – the open cremation ground for Hindus; and Boudhanath – the biggest Buddhist stupa.
  • Day 3Kathmandu – Pokhara 900m - BTake your breakfast early and check out the hotel to travel to Pokhara today. We will drive to 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu to reach Pokhara, a charmingly beautiful city. About seven hours of drive will let us absorb the beauty of the Nepali rural settings. There will be a break on the way for the lunch. On reaching Pokhara and checking into our hotel, we will have some time to explore around the town on the lake side.
  • Day 4Pokhara – Tikhedhunga – B.L.DEarly morning drive for one and half hours to Nayapul On reaching Nayapul, the trekking crew will organize your luggage to carry on their back and we formally start our first day of trekking towards the Annapurna base camp. Trek along the bank of Modi Kholaand head towards Birethanti and towards Tikhedhunga thereafter. The walk today is actually on a dirt road. After about 5 hours with the lunch break, you reach Tikhedhunga, a small but beautiful place on the foothills, to spend the night today.
  • Day 5Tikhedhunga – Ghorepani 2,875m – B.L.DThe very first half of the trekking today is a steep uphill walk for about 2 hours on nicely paved stone steps up to the village of Ulleri. The snow-capped Himalayan peak peeking from between green mountains will make your early morning uphill trekking effort worthy. After a short but deserved break, start trekking further up towards Ghorepani. Walk through a forested area mostly of the rhododendron trees and head towards the destination of the day. Reach Ghorepani to be welcomed by fresh breeze blowing from the high Himalayas and stunning view of the Himalaya on a clear day.
  • Day 6Ghorepani – Poon Hill 3,210m - Tatopani 1,190m – B.L.DWake up early for a rewarding hike to Poonhill this morning to enjoy panoramic view of the Himalaya and a spectacular sunrise over them. Sip your cup of tea and be enthralled by the incredibility of the mountains from the top of Poonhill. Later, hike back down to Ghorepani; take breakfast and get ready to start the trek to Tatopani.
    The very first part of the trek to Tatopani today descends towards the village of Ghar Khola passing Sikha village. Cross a suspension bridge at Ghar Khola and walk uphill towards Tatopani. On reaching Tatopani, you might like go to take a soothing bath in a natural hot spring (Tatopani in Nepali means hot spring) if time allows.
  • Day 7Tatopani – Ghasa 2,110m – B.L.DThe trek today takes you to a beautiful Ghasa village which is an ethnic settlement of Thakali people. The walk goes on the trail along the Kali Gandaki river gorge and through the villages of Dana and Kopchepani. On the trail, you also get to see a beautiful waterfall called Ruptse Chhahara. On reaching Ghasa after about six hours of walk, check into a tea house and relax for the day.
  • Day 8Ghasa – Marpha 2,680m – B.L.DStart the trek for the day to Marpha after breakfast at Ghasa. You will walk past Lete village, then reach Larjung and continue even further to Tukuche village. You go past big apple orchard before reaching the beautiful Marpha village to stay overnight today.
  • Day 9Marpha – Kagbeni 2,810m – B.L.DGet ready to walk to Kagbeni. After breakfast, you continue walking towards Jomsom and eventually reach the beautiful town of Jomsom. The landscape and weather from Jomsom onwards is different as it gets windy normally in the afternoon. You walk along the Kali Gandaki River towards a village called Ekle Bhatti. After taking some rest at Ekle Bhatti, proceed even further to the destination today.
  • Day 10Kagbeni – Muktinath 3,710m – B.L.DIt is the day today that takes you to Muktinath. You will walk mostly uphill and pass through village of Jharkot to head further towards Muktinath. Walking through some of the most picturesque places in the region, you eventually reach Muktinath. Muktinath is a place with abundance of spiritual vibrations and a sacred pilgrimage for Hindus. Once in Muktinath, you can explore the surrounding and stay overnight there.
  • Day 11Muktinath – Jomsom 2,700m – B.L.DTake your breakfast at Muktinath and start the trek for the day to Jomsom. Today is the last day of the trek that comes to an end when you reach Jomsom. Enjoy the last day of the trek to its most at the beautiful Himalayan landscape. Check into a hotel and go for a relaxing exploration of the town for the rest of the day.
  • Day 12Jomsom – Pokhara 900m - BTake an early morning flight to Pokhara. Although a short flight of about 20 minutes, the flight brings some stunning mountain views to your sight. Once you reach your hotel, you can explore the beauty Pokhara. You can go for boating and wandering around the lakeside.
  • Day 13Pokhara – Kathmandu 1400m - BTake a drive back to Kathmandu. About six hours on the highway will give you time to observe the villages and towns on the way from a different angle. After reaching Kathmandu and checking into hotel, you will have some free time to wander around the streets of Thamel.
  • Day 14Departure Day - BWe will drive you to airport for the departure flight three prior to your flight schedule.
